Doorbell Installation Instructions

Doorbell Plate & Button Installation Instructions:

Some simple installation instructions:

1. The bronze plate was handcrafted by Timber Bronze 53, LLC.

2. The button requires a 5/8” diameter hole. That is probably the size of your existing hole; if not, you will need to drill one approximately 1” deep in the desired location – usually 36” to 44” above the door sill.

3. Before installing the Timber Bronze plate and button, be sure your existing system works! If it’s not working, you need to determine whether the problem is with the old button or with other parts of the system. To do this, disconnect the wires from the existing button and touch them together. If the bell or chime operates, the problem was your old button. If the bell or chime does not operate, there is a problem with your transformer, bell or chime that will have to be corrected before installing the Timber Bronze plate and button.

4. When you have a 1” deep, 5/8” diameter hole and know that your system is operational, attach the wire leads to the screw terminals on the back of the new button. Push excess wire back into the hole and attach the Timber Bronze plate to the wall surface with the enclosed matching screws.

Your door bell plate will, in all likelihood, darken over time as it is exposed to the weather. You can care for it by periodically washing with a gentle soap, applying a high quality paste wax and buffing with a soft cloth. You can also use compressed air to blow it clean, but be careful not to leave residue on the surrounding surface.

If you eventually would like to have your door bell’s finish restored to new condition, we provide that service at a cost of 10% of the current retail price plus shipping.
