How TB Creates Bronze Art
Share
Have you ever wondered how those stunning bronze sculptures are created? TB53 is here to demystify the process and show you the magic behind their breathtaking art pieces.
What is TB's Secret?
TB53 is a team of skilled artisans who specialize in the ancient art of bronze casting. They combine traditional techniques with modern innovation to bring their artistic visions to life.
How Does TB Create Bronze Art?
The process begins with a detailed design or sculpture created by a talented artist. This design is then transformed into a mold, typically made of silicone or rubber, to capture every intricate detail.
When pieces need to go through the lost wax process wax is poured into the mold to harden and then removed from the mold and attached to a wax tree. Finally it is sent to the bronze foundry to go through a ceramic like slurry process.
Next, the ceramic mold is heated to remove the wax (that is recycled), then heated again to come up to the temperature of the bronze. Then the molten bronze is carefully poured into the mold and left to cool and solidify. Once the bronze has set, the mold is removed to reveal the raw bronze.
We also pour some flat stock items like our classic doorbells in our foundry. These are items that don't need as much detail.
The skilled artisans at TB53 then begin the meticulous process of refining the sculpture, smoothing out imperfections, and adding any final details like patina or textures to bring the piece to life.
